This area includes the rugged mountains on the Montana side of the MT/ID border from Highway 12 to the North to the MT/ID border to the South. Lower elevation creeks, pools and falls are popular in the hot Summer months with day hikers. The high country is often - not always - beyond day hike range, usually up a fairly narrow drainage with a creek at its bottom. Multi-day point-to-points and out and backs are possible. The scenery here is spectacular.
